Our incredible classes have something for everyone: off-loom beading, wire-work, bead embroidery, beadmaking and unique bead stringing projects. Our instructors teach all over the world, including at the biggest beading events in the country. Our cruise focuses on quality classes with innovative designers!
One full-day class and one 1/2 day workshop are included in the Bead Cruise Registration. Classes are held at the same time, so you may only choose one for each category. Optional kits available, kit prices vary.

Bonus Classes - Some instructors are offering an extra class during the last day at sea. You can purchase an extra class for $55.00. Classes are held at the same time, so one per participant. You must be registered as a Bead Cruise Participant to sign-up for the optional class.
Skill levels:
Intermediate - means you have taken other classes to learn the technique or have completed several projects on your own using the required technique.
Some experience with seed beads helpful - this means you know how to use a needle and thread to do basic beading stitches.
Beginner/All skill levels - Whether this is your first class or you've been making jewelry for years, you'll enjoy these classes.

 Les Perles de la Mer - Sold Out!

Technique: Right angle weave Skill Level: Intermediate Pre-Requisite: Must know right angle weave
Class Description:
You will delight in making and wearing this exquisitely designed bracelet. Each of five beads is made using the versatility of right angle weave. The beads are surface embellished with a variety of techniques making each one its own unique piece of art. The completed beads are strung with the added sparkle and design element of swarovski crystal and separated with faceted stones. A unique ring and toggle complete.

Stacked and Stitched
Instructor: Mary Hettsmansperger
Technique: Fiber-related, Metalwork, Wirework Skill Level - Beginner/All
Class Description:
Using copper, brass, and silver, students will learn a variety of methods to design and attach jewelry by stacking, stitching, and cold connections. Basic metal and wirework as well as a variety of techniques to achieve color, texture, and surface design will be explored. Students will make many pieces.

Calypso Cuff Bracelet Instructor: Heather Powers
Technique: Peyote and surface embellishment Skill Level - Beginning/all
Class Description:
A sea-inspired collection of pearls, crystals, glass and 2-hole art beads create a bold cuff fit for the goddess of the ocean. Students will create a peyote base and embellish it to create a lush beaded bracelet.
Queen of Denial
Instructor: Beverly Herman
Technique: Bead Embroidery with surface embellishment Skill Level: Intermediate
Class Description:
She has the whole world in her hands. No deadlines to meet. No kids to feed. No house to clean. Dinner at 6:00, not tonight. She is the Queen of Denial. Knowledge of peyote must.
Netted Bezel Pendant
Instructor: Eni Oken
Technique: Wire-wrapping
Skill level: intermediate/advanced.
Familiarity and previous skill with wire absolutely required. Familiarity with "herringbone weave" desirable.
Class Description:
This lesson is made in two phases: the first phase shows how to trap a cabochon in a netted bezel, creating a fabulously elegant pendant. The second phase shows how to make a decorative border around the netted stone by adding smaller elements such as beads and charms.

Terracita Earrings
Instructor: Marcia DeCoster
Technique: Right-angle weave Skill Level: Intermediate
Class Description: Use circular right-angle weave to create two medallions and join them at their edges to form a double-domed earring studded with sparkle. Drop a faceted crystal teardrop from the bottom and enjoy a dazzling earring. Color choices will distinguish an everday earring from one which will enhnance evening attire.
Woven Copper Jewelry
Instructor: Mary Hettsmanspeger
Technique: Fiber-related, Metalwork, Wirework
Skill Level - Beginner/all
Class Description:
Using copper sheets, birch bark, and decorative and painted papers, students will weave flat surfaces that will then be made into jewelry. Students will make several necklaces and earrings and will also learn embossing on copper, painting with metallics, and basic wirework. Students will have the option of making embossed copper beads to accent several unique pieces of jewelry.

Technique:Polymer clay beadmaking
Skill Level: Beginner/all
Class Description:
An exploration in mold-making and surface embellishment with polymer clay. We'll create a custom molds and a set of beads during this class.
Dragonfly Melody

Technique: Peyote stitch. Skill Level: Advanced Beginner to Intermediate
Class Description:
Surround a dragonfly cabochon with peyote and surface embellishments.
Earthenwood studio dragonfly cabochon and crystals.
Ethnic Ring
Instructor: Eni Oken
Technique: Wire-wrapping Skill Level: Intermediate
Familiarity and previous skill with wire absolutely required.
Class Description:
This lesson teaches how to create an ethnic looking ring by wrapping an embellished coiled bezel around a Bali type bead, with a scalloped edge. Although apparently intricate, this ring can be easily made in a short amount of time once you get the hang of it.

Rio Dulce (Sweet River) - Sold Out!

Class Description:
This elegant yet simple bracelet starts with the luster of pearls. Using right angle weave the base is constructed and embellished with highlights of color. A jeweled medallion becomes the clasp for this beautiful bracelet.
Sunburst Medallions

Technique: Brick stitch
Skill Level: Beginning/all
Class Description:
It's fun in the sun as students learn this basic stitch. Create circular brick motifs to make a bracelet or earrings.
Textured Twinning
Instructor: Mary Hettsmanspreger
Technique: Basket Weaving, Metalwork, Multiple Stitches, Wirework
Skill Level: Beginner/all
Class Description:
Using copper spokes, students will twine them together with copper wire. Beads will be added to create texture, either as the weaving is done, or later for accent and embellishment. Students will select their own color of beads, along with the shape and style. Two pieces of jewelry will be made.

The Bead Cruise Instructors
Marcia DeCoster
Marcia's love for beautiful jewelry and life-long passion to create led her to beads in the early 1990s. Marcia designs colorful and fun-to-wear jewelry and shares her designs through teaching. Marcia is President of the San Diego Bead Society and a juried member of the Spanish Village artist community at Balboa Park in San Diego, California. Her work has been published in Jane Davis’s Complete Book of Beading, Carol Wilcox Wells’s The Art and Elegance of Bead Weaving, and beading magazines.

Mary Hettsmansperger
Mary Hettmansperger is a fiber/jewelry artist exhibiting/teaching across the US and abroad. Arrowmont, Bead and Button, Convergence, National conferences, guilds and similar venues are some of the places she lends her instruction on jewelry, basketry, surface design and quilting. Marys artwork is represented at SOFAChicago by the Katie Gingrass gallery. She
has authored and illustrated 2 books on jewelry, Fabulous Woven jewelry and Wrap, Stitch, fold and Rivet, both published by Lark/Sterling. Her work can also be found in, 500 Baskets, Fiber Arts Design Book 7, Fabulous Found object jewelry, Teapots makers/collectors, Beading with Crystals, and others. Television segments include; the PBS programs, Beads Baubles and jewels and Quilting Art, along with published work in numerous magazines.

Eni Oken
Eni is a multi-discipline artist: for the past 20 years, she has combined digital fantasy art, sculpture, jewelry, embroidery and other mixed media in whimsical and ornamental award-winning designs. Originally from Brazil, Eni was trained as an architect; however most of her artistic skills are self-taught. Eni now lives in Los Angeles where she explores and creates, writes and teaches about jewelry art.

Beverly Herman
Over the past 12 years Beverly has become an expert at a variety of beading techniques which she quickly translated into her own design sensibility. She has been teaching and sharing her bead knowledge for over 10 years. She teaches her original designs at bead retreats and classes throughout the South. Her work has also been published in national
bead magazines and books. She has written and published pattern books such as The

HeatherPowers
Heather is a mixed media bead artist who combines her original beads with intricate beading techniques. She has mastered the polymer clay bead making techniques of caning and using her knowledge of color theory to produce subtle and sophisticated beads. Heather has a degree in fine arts and has been creating her art beads for over 15 years. She has designed for Simply Beads, BeadStyle Magazine, Step by Step Beads, and her work has been on HGTV's That's Clever and PBS's Beads, Baubles & Jewels.
